People do not always show that regard for the feelings of others which they would wish shown to them. This inconsistency often arises not from malice, but from a lack of self-awareness. In professional settings, for instance, someone may dismiss a colleague’s idea in a meeting, forgetting how hurt they themselves felt when similarly overlooked. Without deliberate reflection, people can easily become the source of the very disrespect they resent.
